20 restaurants for $25: Kiwanis Feast event is March 21
Fabulous Feast lets you sample, while helping local kids
The Andover Townsman Thu Mar 08, 2012, 04:06 PM EST

Enjoy trying new restaurants? The Fabulous Feast on March 21 is for you.

Chefs from 20 restaurants are expected to offer samples of their food in one Andover location, for $25. The money raised during the night of good eating and entertainment will benefit a variety of local children's charities.

This will be the 14th annual Feast hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence. This year, it will be held on Wednesday, March 21, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Wyndham Andover Hotel, 123 Old River Road in Andover. For years, the sit down sampling affair has been known as "February Feast," but with it being held in March this year, the club has changed the name slightly.

Food isn't the only draw. Lawrence's Elizabeth Ruiz, who became a fan favorite on NBC reality-TV show The Biggest Loser, will return as a special guest. Miss New Hampshire Teen USA Marisa DeLuca, the niece and grand niece of Kiwanis members Mike and Al DeLuca, will serve as hostess. The master of ceremonies will be Eagle Tribune Executive Sports Editor Bill Burt.

A variety of items will be up for bid. For the sports fan, a framed, iconic photo of an airborne Bobby Orr winning the 1970 Stanley Cup against the St. Louis Blues, autographed by the Hall of Famer, is one of more than 100 items available as part of silent and live auctions.

Tickets to the event are $25, with tables of 10 available for $250. The tickets can be purchased online at lawrencekiwanisclub.com, or at Shawsheen Village Liquors, 4 Poor St., Andover. People can also call 978-475-3636.

Money raised at the event benefits local youth programs supported by the local Kiwanis Club that meets for lunch each Thursday at the Lanam Club in Andover. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence pumps more than $30,000 a year into kids' charities in Andover and neighboring communities. Among the current initiative are $10,000 a year for Ironstone Farm in Andover and a new commitment of $5,000 per year to the Pediatric Center at Lawrence General Hospital.
